The African Human Mobility Review (AHMR) is an interdisciplinary peer–reviewed open access academic journal accredited by the South African Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The AHMR is jointly owned by the Scalabrini Institute for Human Mobility in Africa (SIHMA) and University of the Western Cape (UWC). The journal seeks to continually reflect its regional character, which means that papers from a diversity of countries are represented in each edition.

The journal aims to conduct and disseminate research that contributes to the understanding of human mobility across Africa and inform policies that ensure the rights and dignity of migrants, asylum–seekers and refugees.

The types of articles published in AHMR include original research, policy discussions and evidence–based research papers, as well as book reviews and editorials.

AHMR publishes 3 times per year in May, September and December the following year.

AHMR is an Open Access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution.

Articles are made available under a Attribution 4.0 International Creative Commons License (CC BY 4.0).

Authors retain full copyright of published works.

Authors who have published under a CC BY 4.0 licence may share and distribute their article on commercial and non–commercial websites and repositories of their choice. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author/s provided the author/s is correctly attributed.
