ABOUT THE JOURNAL

 

Basic Information

The African Journal on Conflict Resolution (AJCR) is published by the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) to contribute to the intellectual development of thinking, writing and dialogue in the field of conflict management on the African continent.

AJCR aims to:

  • Promote dialogue as a preferred response to conflict;
  • Generate, document and share knowledge that positively impacts on conflict prevention, management, resolution and transformation;
  • Develop the capacity of individuals and institutions to prevent, manage, resolve and transform conflict and long–term development;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and frameworks that enhance peaceful response to conflict;
  • Provide conflict resolution services in the form of facilitation, mediation and other consensus building techniques;
  • Encourage and promote a holistic approach to conflict prevention, management, resolution and transformation.

The journal encourages and promotes the constructive resolution of disputes, by the peoples of Africa, and so assist in achieving political stability and socio–economic recovery, within just and democratic societies, towards peaceful co–existence.

Types of Articles include Scholarly Articles, and Book Reviews.

Publication language for Articles and Abstracts is English.

Two regular issues are published annually in June and December; occasionally a special issue addressing a particular theme is included.
