Abstract

ERENS, P. J.  and  DREYER, A. A.. A General Approach for the Rating of Evaporative Closed Circuit Coolers. R&D j. (Matieland, Online) [online]. 1989, vol.5, pp.1-10. ISSN 2309-8988.

Numerous procedures to predict the performance of closed circuit evaporative coolers have been reported in the past with varying degrees of approximation in the thermodynamic and heat transfer equations. While these methods are generally found to be adequate for most industrial design applications, they have shortcomings when linking them to natural draught situations where a crossflow unit is preferred and the outlet air density is critical in determining the air flow rate. This article describes a more rigorous method based oh the method of Poppe [18], Bourillot [16] and Evers and Dreyer [23] as applied to conventional cooling towers.
