Abstract

A Windows-based computer program for designing dilute phase pressure and vacuum pneumatic conveyors is introduced. The simulation program is based on the numerical integration of the five governing differential equations for two-phase flow. A summary of the equations and the method of solution are given. A detailed discussion is presented on the advantages of the program results which include values for the conveying gas velocity, particle velocity, pressure, density, and voidage at any point along the conveying pipeline. The evaluation of the results is high-lighted in the presentation of comparison of simulations with experimental data for the conveying of cement and tube ice. In conclusion a working example of a pneumatic conveyor is given as analysed with the design program.
