Freely suspended skips cause high rope stresses when loaded with ore. In order to lower the fatigue experienced by the rope an improved loading curve is presented which will reduce fatigue on the rope substantially. The validity of the equation on which the improved loading curve is based is proved experimentally and the criteria for low residual oscillations are investigated.
