In this article it is shown how to choose a most economical milk pasteuriser from a range of options taking into account the financial as well as thermodynamic aspects. It is shown that the total cost of the pasteurisation plant sharply decreases as the percentage regeneration of heat increases. The thermodynamic analysis for the plant is mainly based on the first law the Thermodynamics. The economic analysis is based on the nett current value technique.
